At IEGS we encourage you to apply to Cambridge or Oxford
There’s an interesting report in British newspaper The Daily Telegraph today which reveals that teachers at state schools are putting their pupils off from applying to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge (often referred to as Oxbridge).
Apparently, teachers are guilty of encouraging their pupils to think that Oxford and Cambridge are “not for the likes of us”.
More than four in 10 students currently admitted to Oxford and Cambridge are from independent schools, even though they educate just seven per cent of children in the United Kingdom.
At Int. Engelska Gymnasiet we believe in encouraging suitably qualified students to strive for the very best higher education has to offer – whether that means Oxbridge or some other top ranking university in the world.
You take your university studies with you for the rest of your life, and it’s imperative that you go on to study at a university that will provide you with the right kind of foundation for your future career.

- The Guardian University Guide, which provides subject-by-subject information, as well as helping you to find a course that interests you.
Throughout the coming school year third year students at IEGS will be encouraged and supported as they prepare university applications and set their sights on the next part of their journey.
