Strong emphasis is placed on a combination of theoretical and practical work in IEG Södermalm’s science courses. Hard work both by teachers and students gives students an excellent foundation for a stimulating and exciting future.
The Natural Science Program at Int. Engelska Gymnasiet is an exciting and diverse pre-university program that prepares students for university studies in the natural sciences. It is particularly suited to students who excel at Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths.
Students are also able to include a variety of electives within their programme of study including: Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biotechnoloy, Psychology as well as Art, Drama, Creative Writing, Journalism. The school provides a full list of electives each year.
The Natural Science program seeks to develop the abilities of students to research, analyze, and communicate within the context of a wider awareness of the natural sciences and its interaction with other scholarly disciplines. The goals of the Natural Science Program are to:

The faculty who teach science are highly qualified from world-renowned universities such as Oxford, UCL, Harvard, Uppsala University, UEA, Sheffield, KTH and Karolinska Institutet. Many have experience teaching at university level or working in industry.
The department has a tradition of success and has established an excellent reputation among Sweden’s top university science departments.
Over the past two years nine students studying the Natural Science Programme at IEG have been specifically selected by the Karolinska Summer Research Program to participate in their summer school. No other Swedish school has placed more than 1 or 2 students each year. Check out the Awards page for more details.
In addition, IEG Södermalm has separate individual arrangements with both Tekniska Högskolan and Karolinska Institutet to place students (7 in total this year) in summer research programs independent of the Karolinska Summer School.
