The Drama Audition & Art Portfolio Interview

March 7 & 8, 2012

The first round of Auditions and Art portfolio interviews for students applying for the Arts program 2012-2013 will take place Week 10, Wednesday 7/3 and Thursday 8/3, 2012.

Drama Auditions

March 7, 2012

For us to assess your suitability for the programme and give you a taste of Theatre at our school, we would like you to attend an audition on: Wednesday, March 7, 2012.

The first part of the audition will take place between 10.30 – 12.20. This session will include a warm-up activity, group auditions as well as a tour around the school.

You will then work on a small-scale group production and have an individual audition between 13.00 and 16.30.

Your individual audition will give you a short period of time to tell us about yourself and your interest in theatre, including any performances you’ve been involved in.

You will then be required to perform either a brief monologue (choose one from these examples) or an alternate short dramatic performance of your choice.

You will be informed of your individual audition time, as well as additional information regarding entering the school, exact location, contact numbers of staff, etc, by Monday March 5th.
Please note, that you need to be available until 16.30 on the day of March 7th.

Art Portfolio Interviews

March 8, 2012

The aim of the interview is to assess your level of artistic proficiency and get an insight into the thinking process behind some of your art or design work. It is also meant to encourage you to develop your interest in art before the course start.

The day includes:

  • a creative activity (please wear outdoor clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on)
  • a chance for you to show us some of your work
  • and an opportunity to get to know the school and course programme.

Please bring with you a portfolio of work to show and discuss with us.

The portfolio should comprise of:

1) a form drawing (still life) of any chosen object(s) that has form or volume.

Try to create a pleasing composition. Reproduce the objects to display the illusion of form using light and shadow. You are free to use any drawing style or combination of these i.e. contour line, cross hatching, hatching, continuous shadow, points or dots. Think about the placement of the objects (composition) and try to use as much as possible of the paper surface.

2) a completed class project from Art in year 8/9:
This can be any project that you have completed during class time in “Grundskola” during year 8/9.

3) an example of your own work
This should be an example of a piece of art work that you have done outside school.
This can be any art media (ex. Painting, drawing, sculpting, photography etc). Any three dimensional work needs to be photographed and added into the file. You should come prepared to discuss the ideas, thoughts, symbolism or techniques used when creating this piece.
