Teachers
Ms. Alis is originally from Los Angeles, California. She completed her undergraduate studies in Linguistics and French at the University of California Irvine. She also holds a MA in Linguistics: Language and Culture in Europe, from Linköpings Universitet. Prior to joining IEGS she taught in both France and Sweden.

Mr. Ankarcrona has been teaching English for seven years, both in California, where he was born, and in Sweden. He holds an M.A. in Theology, has studied English Literature and Linguistics in Stockholm and Uppsala, and is currently working towards the completion of his teaching degree at Stockholm University in 2021.

Mr. Armstrong has worked for Internationella Engelska Skolan since 1993. He holds a BA in Economics (University of Victoria) and a teaching degree from the University of Alberta, Canada. He currently teaches Maths and Economics.

Ms. Baum is a teacher student at the University of Stockholm, becoming a teacher of Swedish as a Second Language. She has been teaching Swedish to foreigners since 2017, giving lessons in both Komvux and privately.

Mr. Bjarnestam is a Licentiate in Geography from Uppsala University. In his research Mr. Bjarnestam has focused on urban geography, perceptions of urban sustainable development and the planning process of the new Slussen area in Södermalm. He also holds a Master´s Degree in Geography, History and History of Religions from the universities in Stockholm and Uppsala, as well as being a licensed gymnasium teacher with a degree from the Stockholm Institute of Education, Lärarhögskolan.

Dr Blanco holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Hochschule für Philosophie München, Germany, and two Masters, one in Hispano-American Literature and other in Philosophy from the Universidad Rafael Landívar, Guatemala. Prior to joining IEGS he worked as a lecturer of Philosophy and Cultural Studies at the Universidad Rafael Landívar. Dr. Blanco has published four books and co-edited one, all of them in Spanish. Those books explore contemporary Latin-American thought from the perspective of philosophy, literature and aesthetics. He is also a qualified high school teacher.

Ms. Bush is originally from California. Prior to joining IEGS, she taught 5 years in California and joins us after 3 years of teaching and leading the Maths Department at IES Täby.

Mr. Davis has BSc with majors in Environmental Science (Environmental Physics and Toxicology) from Lincoln University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning from Christchurch College of Education. Mr. Davis moved to Stockholm in late 2014 from South Otago in New Zealand. He has taught Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture in Nelson, South Otago and the Far North of Queensland in Australia.

Mr Falk is a qualified teacher with a Master of Science in Education from Stockholm University. He's qualified to teach Civics, Religion and also Law after having completed studies at Lund University 2019.

Mr. Grape is a qualified theatre teacher who studied theatre at Uppsala University and Stockholm University. He also studied theatre pedagogy in Norrköping. He has acted in and directed numerous plays and has been involved in free theatre groups in Norrköping and in Stockholm.

Dr. Grönstedt is originally from Kramfors, Sweden. She completed her BA in modern history and literature at Queen's University, Belfast. She holds an MA in modern literature and a PhD in eighteenth-century English literature, from Queen's. She is also a qualified upper secondary teacher in English and history, with a master degree from Luleå Tekniska Universitet. Prior to joining IEGS she taught in Northern Ireland and Belgium.

Mr. Hemingway is from the UK. He holds a degree in English along with a teaching qualification. He teaches English and Philosophy, and is also the Academic Manager at IEGS.

Ms. Hörnell has a Master of Education from Umeå University, majoring in English Literature and Swedish in 1997. She has also studied German at Linköping University and Dutch at Stockholm University. Since 2006 she has taught Swedish IB and from 2011 and onwards she has also worked for the International Baccalaureate as a Senior Examiner. She has taught in The Netherlands, China and India.

Mr. Khan was born and raised in Stockholm but later on moved to Västerås to pursue his studies in Engineering. He holds a Master of Science in Robotics from Mälardalen University. He completed part of his education as an exchange student in South Korea. He worked as a teacher's assistant at Mälardalen University prior to his arrival at IEGS.

Mr. Kühn was born in South Africa and studied Physical Education and Geography at the University of Pretoria. He completed his Higher Educational Diploma at the University of Pretoria in 1992. Following this Mr. Kühn completed a postgraduate in Psychology at the University of South Africa. In 2001 Mr. Kühn moved to Sweden and took part in various courses in Art and Form and is currently also working as a professional artist.

Ms Larsson is an upper secondary teacher in Swedish and History with a degree from the Stockholm Institute of Education, Lärarhögskolan. She also holds a master in Curriculum Studies, with focus on Assessment from Uppsala University. Before she started teaching at IEGS, she taught Swedish at Jagellonian University in Cracow, Poland, for four years.

Ms.Lhannach holds a BA degree in English literature and linguistics from the university of Abdel Malek Essaadi university and a teaching degree from L École Normale Supérieure, Morocco. Prior to joining IEGS, she has been a language teacher for more than 22 years, in Morocco, Spain and Sweden. She has prior experience teaching in high schools as well as giving in-company business English classes and translation services in Arabic, French, Spanish and English.

Ms MacKenzie comes from Fredericton, New Brunswick on the east coast of Canada. She received degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of New Brunswick, then spent several years working in the non-profit sector for environmental organisations. Ms MacKenzie returned to school to complete her Bachelor of Education in science and French immersion, and has taught science in both the English and French streams, as well as elementary French immersion.

Mr Mahadeo has an Honours Degree in Science with a specialisation in Exercise Physiology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa. He has also attained an undergraduate qualification in Sports Management & Coaching along with being a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength Conditioning Association (NSCA) in the US. He is a qualified teacher since 2005, having taught in South Africa and the UK.

Mr. McElwaine is from Northern Ireland. He has a BA in Modern History and English Literature from the University of Oxford. Mr. McElwaine also completed his teacher training at Oxford. He taught in both the UK and Spain before moving to Stockholm.

Ms. Måtar is originally from Helsinki, Finland. She holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration as well as a teacher’s degree, both from Åbo Akademi University in Finland. She also carried out a part of her studies in Germany. Prior to joining IEGS Ms. Måtar lived and worked in Shanghai, China for over a decade.

Mr Pettersson has a Masters degree in English and Swedish from Umeå University and University of Liverpool. Prior to joining IEGS Mr Pettersson worked at Umeå University (phonetics) and in the Stockholm-area. Mr Pettersson is also a recording jazz-artist with ten solo albums, has recorded and toured all over the world with some of the biggest names in jazz. In 2015 he was awarded the prestigious Lars Gullin-prize - one of Swedens biggest awards in music.

Ms. Raja is a qualified teacher who has moved to Stockholm from Manchester, England. She has a Bachelors degree in Biomaterials (BMedSci) from the University of Birmingham. She taught in England for several years before moving to Stockholm in 2013.

After initially teaching Physics in the UK, Mr. Richardson worked for three years in the nuclear power industry, then spent 30 years in Germany and the US working for Hewlett-Packard in various marketing and management roles in the IT industry before returning to the UK in 2010 to teach Physics, Electronics and Astrophysics to pre-University students. Since moving to Sweden in 2013, he has been active in the Stockholm Astronomy community and as a presenter of popular Astronomy, he has a Swedish radio callsign (SA0KJI) and holds a BSc in Physics and Astrophysics from the University of London.

Ms Sallmander has a 2018 Master of education at Stockholm University, majoring in English literature and Swedish as a second language. She has previously worked in the music industry as production manager, the movie industry as production designer and has also run her own art gallery. During the early 00s, she lived in New York City working as a decorative painter.

Ms. Sang is originally from Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Business Management, a Graduate Diploma in Anthropology and a double Masters in International Relations and International Trade and Commerce Law. She has also completed her teacher qualification at Macquarie University in Sydney. Ms. Sang teaches English on the national program and Economics on the IB. She is also the IB DP Coordinator at IEGS.

Mr. Shaw is originally from Toronto, Canada. He has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta with a specialisation in Social Studies and English Literature. In addition to his primary areas of focus, Mr. Shaw also has a background in ESL instruction, gaining TEFL certification in 2017. He currently teaches Civics, International Relations, and English at IEGS.

Mr. Stanley comes to IEGS from Vancouver, Canada. Prior to becoming a teacher he spent ten years working in marketing and communications as a copywriter. He also has extensive experience volunteering as a mindfulness facilitator and youth crisis counsellor.

Ms. Tavacova received her Master's degree in teaching Mathematics and English at Charles University in Prague, where she had also worked as a Mathematics teacher at a secondary school. Before moving to Stockholm in 2019, she also worked as a teaching assistant in a specialised educational establishment for children with physical and/or mental disabilities. Throughout her university studies, she volunteered as a tutor in non-profit organisations aimed at socially or culturally disadvantaged children.
