The 6th annual cross- country run this year took place at Ursviksmotionsgård in Sundbyberg on the 4th September 2014.
With a fantastic venue set in the beautiful Swedish countryside, only a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Stockholm city, the stage was set for battle of the first IHC event of the academic year.
Students from all 4 houses: Curie, King, Pavlov and Russell all were eager to compete for the overall IHC cross-country trophy. This is awarded to the house with the best attendance, in combination with a bonus system for points awarded to the fastest runners in the houses for both males and females.
At 11.00 sharp the foghorn sounded the start of the race with the faster students running at a frantic pace in an attempt to compete for the overall individuals winners trophy, or other students took it at a more leisurely pace merely to enjoy each other’s company. An added attraction this year was the number of third year students who came in fancy dress. This is a novel aspect and should be continued in years to come!! House spirit was foremost, and the students and teachers alike all encouraged each other around the 5 Km route. The finishers enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere chatting over lunch and basking in the warm sun.
In summary the overall winning House was Pavlov house with a total number of 485 points.
The fastest boy around the course in an impressive time of 19.09 was Sasha Sirmanshahi from Curie house. The fastest girl was Hedvig Palmblad Söderhielm with a time only slightly slower than the fastest boy in 20. 21, from Pavlov house.
The organisers would like to thank you all you took part to ensure that the day was a great success. Until next year, keep training and smiling!!!
