Applying to IEGS
Thank you for your interest in Internationella Engelska Gymnasiet Södermalm (IEGS).
Making a decision about your high school studies is a very important one, one that you will carry during your three years of high school and with you onto future studies.
At IEGS we have both the National Programme (NP) and the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB), providing students with the opportunity to choose what suits them best. We currently offer four national programme choices with different specialisations. You can read more about our different programmes including the IB here. All our programmes qualify students for university studies in Sweden or abroad. In addition, all courses, with the exception of Swedish, Civics A, Law and Modern Languages, are taught in English. Students must have passed their obligatory year 9 studies in order to qualify for both the National programme and the IB programme.
Students applying to the National programmes need a grade in Swedish equivalent to year 9. For the IB programme, a grade in Swedish is not necessary.
Applying to a Swedish Gymnasium Programme (upper-secondary)
Although our courses are taught in English, IEGS is a Swedish school and therefore follows the same guidelines as any other Swedish gymnasium. For example, if you wish to take one of the Swedish national programmes, you are required to have passed English, Math and Swedish in Grade 9 or its equivalent (ex. through Sofia Distans). All applicants from abroad MUST start in Year 1 and are required to meet the requirements that are needed to start a Swedish national gymnasium programme. You apply centrally through Gymnasieantagningen, www.gyantagningen.se
If you are applying after July, the admission period through Gymnasieantagningen is over and you need to apply to us directly here: www.engelskagymnasiet.se/form/transferring-year-1-2-or-3
For any questions relating to applications, contact: email@example.com.
If you have already completed or started the first year of gymnasium and would like to transfer to IEGS, you will need to apply directly to the school. You can find more information here.
Applying to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme
Students who have not graduated 9th grade with a passing grade in Swedish can only apply to the IB Programme at IEGS. Students are not required to have any grade in Swedish; however, you are still required to apply through Gymnasieantagningen.
You will also be required to submit an entrance exam in English run by the school. You will receive more information after you have applied.
For more information about the IB Programme, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note that if you have already completed or started the first year of gymnasium and would like to transfer to IEGS, joining in the second year, you will need to apply directly to the school. You can find more information here.
